Adam and Eve in Youth Ministry
I’ve been dealing with the foundational stories of the Bible in youth for the past several weeks. This is a task undertaken partly to increase biblical literacy and partly to address fundamental issues of Christian identity. Of course, Moltmann’s “God in Creation” has been a major influence in this project. But in addressing Adam and Eve, I basically said something very similar to NT Wright (watch below).
What many preachers miss in the discussions and sermons on Genesis is the STORY. Most pastors get caught up on 6 literal days or debuking evolution, and they lose sight of the grandeur and beauty of the story. My struggle and challenge has been to tell the stories faithfully but like it’s the first time we’ve heard them.
